EAHS to compete in finals of WGAL-Wellspan Brain Busters competition

May 16, 2019- Elizabethtown Area High School’s Brain Busters team advanced to the finals of the WGAL-Wellspan Brain Busters competition with a 390-215 semifinal victory over Cumberland Valley High School. The Bears await the winner of the other semifinal match between Lancaster Mennonite High School and Hershey High School. The final match will be aired on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. on WGAL. Brain Busters Team
This is the first time since 2004 that Elizabethtown Area High School has advanced to the championship round. Team members include seniors Alexander Caylor, Nat McCloud, Ryan Minnich, and Marshall Neece, as well as sophomore Seth Oltmans.

Brain Busters is a single elimination question and answer game pitting two teams of four players against each other. Teams are awarded points for each correct answer over the course of four rounds.

This was the fourth match for Elizabethtown Area High School. The team previously defeated Cedar Cliff High School by a score of 380 – 300 in the second round, Hempfield High School by a score of 365-335 in the third round, and Bishop McDevitt High School by a score of 270-260 in the fourth round. Elizabethtown had a first round bye.


Also featured on the finale of Brain Busters will be four "future brain busters" from Bear Creek Elementary School. During a break for the high school students, 5th graders Gavin Alvarez, Dominic Hemsch, Siena Tyson, and Josephine Sirinides will compete with 5th graders from the opposing school district.
