EAHS March students of the month named

March 16, 2023- Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) seniors Joy Ngafua and Jared Louie were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for March. This program celebrates and recognizes student achievements by sustaining a culture of learning that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the EAHS community.

Ngafua is the child of Manjoe Ngafua of Folcroft, PA, and Hawah Fahnbulleh of Darby, PA.

In the academic arena, the high school inducted Ngafua into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society for exhibiting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. In addition, she was previously honored by the Lions Club as their student of the month for September.

Ngafua is active in numerous school activities. She is a member of the varsity cheerleading and lacrosse teams. She is active with the Pep and Human Rights Clubs. In the community, Ngafua attends the Philadelphia Church International. She is employed at the Masonic Village in their dining program.

Her plans after graduation include attending a four-year college or university to pursue a career in pediatrics.

Louie is the child of Tom and Deb Louie of Elizabethtown.

Louie is active in numerous school activities. He is a member of the golf, tennis, and swimming teams. Louie also serves as a student leader as a member of the high school’s Student Lighthouse Team.

In the community, Louie is employed as a lifeguard at the Willowood and Masonic Village swimming pools.

After graduation, Louie plans to attend York College to pursue a degree in nursing.

Rotary is a service organization that helps build goodwill and peace in the local community and throughout the world. The main objective of Rotary is service in the community. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. The Elizabethtown Rotary Club has supported the Elizabethtown youth for many years and in many ways.  Some of the Rotary programs have been Rotary Student of the Month, Pfautz Scholarship, Student Loans, Text-A-Tip notification program, Byrnes Health Center Field Trips, America's Promise, Junior Achievement (JA), and others.  For information on the Rotary Club of Elizabethtown, visit the club's website at www.elizabethtownrotary.org.
