EAHS holds Athlete Recognition Day

May 15, 2019- On Wednesday, May 15, Elizabethtown Area High School held its annual Athlete Recognition Day. This celebration was for Elizabethtown Area High School athletes who plan to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. Less than two percent of high school athletes play at the post-secondary level. Joining the athletes on their special day were their families, teammates, coaches, Group Photo faculty members and administration in the high school auditorium as each was introduced.

As part of the program, the nine honorees were saluted by their coaches for the contributions each made to his or her sports program. The coaches read off the many accolades earned by each student-athlete as well as wish them success at the next level. The lengthy list of accomplishments included common themes for all like Lancaster-Lebanon League all-stars, team captains, and MVP awards, as well as a long list of leadership qualities and academic accolades.

The honorees were as follows:

  • Alexander Diahn - Football, Shippensburg University
  • Jonathan Gartley – Soccer, Penn State-Harrisburg
  • Emily Louie – Tennis, York College
  • Julia Rathsam –Volleyball, Penn State-Berks
  • Bradley Ruth – Bowling, Penn State-Berks
  • Catherine Shontz - Cross Country/Track, Temple University
  • Dylan Sweger – Football, Juniata College
  • Elizabeth Vuxta – Volleyball, Wilson College
  • Julee Wells - Cross Country/Track, Hood College
