Eighth grader Emma Creason Wins EAMS Spelling Bee

March 6, 2018- Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently held its 2019 spelling bee. The winner of the Bee was eighth grader Emma Creason. Creason took home the victory by correctly spelling the word “redundancy.” The bee was open to middle school students and was based on grade-level words EAMS Spelling Bee Award Winners determined by the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Seventh grader Liz Givens placed second. In addition to Creason and Givens, eighth grader Rose Manton and seventh grader Allison Norman rounded out the top four. As the school’s top spellers, Creason, Givens, Manton, and Norman attempted to qualify for the Lancaster County Spelling Bee to be held later this spring. To qualify, the students took a written test in late February.

Based on the county-wide results on the written test, both Creason and Manton qualified to compete in the Lancaster County Spelling Bee to be held March 22. The event will be live streamed at 7:00 p.m. through the Lancaster Newspaper's website
