EASD Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

October 25, 2021- During the week of Oct. 25-29, the Elizabethtown Area School District is joining schools all across the nation in celebrating National Red Ribbon Week. A national event occurring annually during the last week of October, Red Ribbon Week promotes the importance of living drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free lives. Students wore red on Monday, Oct. 25 to raise awareness of the weeklong celebration.

The Red Ribbon Celebration brings millions of people together each year and is the largest, most visible prevention awareness campaign observed annually in the United States. Created as a response to the murder of Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985, Red Ribbon Week honors Camarena's memory and his battle against illegal drugs and serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.
