School Board approves three new administrators
On behalf of the Elizabethtown Area School District, we are thrilled to welcome three new members to our leadership team. As part of last evening's school board meeting, the school directors approved the personnel report that included the following hirings:
- David Beard - Principal, Elizabethtown Area Middle School
- Eric Beiler - Assistant Principal, Elizabethtown Area High School
- Ted Cardwell - Director of Technology
Mr. Beard, Mr. Beiler, and Mr. Cardwell were all hired following extensive human resources processes that involved a series of interviews. The interview teams for each candidate and position were diverse and included district and school administrators, faculty members, and support staff.
To help you get to know the backgrounds of Mr. Beard, Mr. Beiler, and Mr. Cardwell a little better, we have included some brief biographical information on each.
Mr. Beard is presently serving as an assistant high school principal in the Solanco School District. He has extensive experience with new teacher induction, multi-tiered systems of support, and building targeted professional development opportunities for staff members. Mr. Beard is currently serving as President of the PA Association for Curriculum and Instruction- Southern Region. In addition, he has participated in the PA Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development Emerging Leaders Program and sits on the Chamber of Commerce Consortium for Education.
Mr. Beard is a graduate of Lock Haven University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education (2004). In addition, he was awarded Master's Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership from the American College of Education (2013). David is presently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Neumann University.
Mr. Beiler is currently a technology education and engineering education teacher at Palmyra Area High School. He serves as the Technology Education department chair and is a member of Palmyra's emergency committee and STEM Toolkit Development Team. In addition, he is a student club advisor for FIRST Robotics and has been the assistant varsity softball coach at Palmyra.
Mr. Beiler earned his bachelor's degree from Millersville University in Technology Education (2011). He also holds two master's degrees, one in Emergency Management from Millersville University (2014) and one in STEM Education from Lebanon Valley College (2017).
Mr. Cardwell has been the District’s Network Systems Manager for the past fourteen years. In this position, he has managed the District's network and technology infrastructure in addition to overseeing the day to day operations of the department. He has extensive knowledge networking, data center management, student information systems, learning management systems, and virtualization. In addition, Mr. Cardwell played an integral part in the rollout of the District's WiFi network and server farm and connected EASD to IU13's wide area network. He is a CISCO-certified technician, Apple-certified repair technician, and Microsoft-certified systems engineer.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Beard, Mr. Beiler, and Mr. Cardwell to our EASD team. Start dates for Mr. Beard and Mr. Beiler are being worked out with their respective school districts. With last evening’s approval, Mr. Cardwell is now officially the District’s Director of Technology.
