EAHS Leadership Update
I want to share an exciting update with our community about our high school leadership team. As we shared in mid-June, Dr. Maura Hobson, current high school principal, accepted a position out of state and will depart the Elizabethtown Area School District later this year. Over the past month, we sought to identify a new high school principal. After a comprehensive interview process involving teachers, key support staff, district and school administrators, and a representative from the school board, I am very pleased to announce that the position has been offered to and accepted by Dr. Jason D’Amico.
Dr. D’Amico is presently the high school assistant principal for the Penn Manor School District. He brings a wealth of experience in many areas, including:
- Supervising teaching staff
- Assisting in staff hirings
- Developing instructional support plans
- Directing co-curricular activities
- Managing the master scheduling process
- Serving as the state assessment and safe schools coordinator
- Managing student attendance and discipline
Dr. D’Amico is a graduate of Indiana University of PA, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies/Secondary Education (1994). He was awarded a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from George Washington University (2003) and a doctorate degree in Education from Immaculata University (2010).
In addition to his post-secondary degrees, Dr. D’Amico has completed professional development work in numerous areas, including Leading and Learning for the Net Generation, Qualities of Effective Teaching, Pennsylvania’s Inspired Leadership program, and Classroom Diagnostic Tools.
A start date is being determined in collaboration with the Penn Manor School District. Please join me in welcoming Dr. D’Amico as we are excited to have him join our team.
Michele M. Balliet, Ed.D.
