EASD faculty and support staff recognized for excellence and dedication to the District
April 17, 2019- Elizabethtown Area School District held its annual staff recognition banquet on Tuesday, April 16 to salute employees for exceptional achievement and dedication to students and the district. In total, four faculty members and eight support staff members were honored for their outstanding service. The twelve honorees were saluted for having earned either an EASD Teacher Recognition Award or an ABCD award. All the award winners were nominated by their peers.
The EASD Teacher Recognition Innovation Award was given to Nicole Wilkinson, high school science teacher. The innovation award is given to a professional who tried something innovative in their classroom and was successful with the idea and benefited students.
Kevin Goss, high school art teacher, and Lindsay Troop, fifth grade teacher at the Bear Creek School, won the EASD Teacher Recognition Instructional Excellence Award. This honor was given to a faculty member(s) who provided classroom instruction at a level viewed as outstanding or superior.
The EASD Teacher Recognition Community Service Award was given to a professional who demonstrated outstanding service outside the confines of the classroom. Special education consultant Beth Vertucci was this year’s recipient of the community service award.
The ABCD Awards program recognized and rewarded support staff professionals who consistently went above and beyond their formal, identified job duties to exceed the needs of our students and staff. The honorees received their awards throughout the year at regularly scheduled school board meetings; however, they were invited to the banquet to be saluted once again. The 2019 recipients were Judith Bitner, Linda Brosey, James Halter, Melissa Heisey, Michael Hench, Shannon Kreider, Donna O’Connell, and Ann Sullivan.
