Bainbridge Elementary Read-A-Thon Underway
February 16, 2023- Bainbridge Elementary School recently launched its schoolwide Read-A-Thon. The purpose of the Read-A-Thon is for Bainbridge students to work together to become better readers and help to grow their love for reading. In addition, the initiative will help to raise money for the school’s PTO. Students have been tasked with reading ten minutes a night for a cumulative total of 8,800 minutes weekly for the remainder of the school year.
To help encourage the students to read, Bainbridge has set a schoolwide fundraising goal of $6,000. As part of this literacy campaign, students are securing pledges to meet their personal reading goal each night through March 3. The high school cheerleaders surprised the students with an appearance at the kickoff.
To further incentivize the students, for every thousand dollars raised schoolwide, various prizes kick in from an extra pajama day, a squishy stress ball, and a special recess. There will also be prizes for the classes that meet their reading goal and for the top individual money raisers. The PTO raises money for family nights, assemblies, leader t-shirts, yearbooks, classroom supplies, and more.
