Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

As the Elizabethtown Area School District does each May, we again proudly recognize our faculty and staff as part of Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. As such, this week (May 3-7) we are joining communities all across the country in this national celebration of public education by saluting our outstanding and courageous team - affectionately known as Team E-town.

In preparing this message, my gratitude continued to overflow thinking about the tenacity, resiliency, creativity, patience, compassion, commitment, and perseverance demonstrated by our faculty, support staff, and administration during this global health pandemic. Their dedication to keeping our community's youth connected, engaged, safe, nourished, and supported in their learning is to be commended!

From our outstanding teaching staff to our fantastic administrative professionals; from our amazing health room nurses to our buildings and grounds wizards (and every other position in between), our teachers and support staff are having a profound impact on the lives of our students in these most trying of times. Whether they have been fostering dynamic learning environments; meeting the social, emotional, and/or nutritional needs of our students; deepening meaningful relationships with parents/guardians; keeping our schools clean, safe, and secure so they could remain open; being a trusted coach to our student-athletes; and/or transporting our students so they were able to fully participate in school district offerings, we value and appreciate their contributions.

The education experiences our youth are receiving today are a central component to our community's, Commonwealth's, and country's future. Despite the uncharted challenges that COVID-19 presented and still presents, the Elizabethtown Area School District continues to rise to the occasion. We have overcome what has felt like endless twists and turns these past fourteen months to remain focused on helping our students continue to learn and grow, and for that, I am eternally thankful.

In closing, I am proud to kick off Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week by sharing our gratitude. On behalf of the Elizabethtown Area School District, we thank our faculty and staff for their outstanding efforts in helping our students to become productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!

Sincerely,

Dr. Michele M. Balliet
Superintendent of Schools
