End of School Year information for High School Students and Parents

May 2, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The end of the school year is approaching quickly. May brings a very busy time in the school schedule. With Keystone exams, Advanced Placement (AP) exams, final exams, student awards, and graduation coming up in the next several weeks, we’d like to share pertinent information with you.

Advanced Placement Exams (AP)
AP exams will be administered from May 6 - 17 for students who are taking an Advanced Placement course this school year and are registered to participate in the exam.

Keystone Exams
The Keystone exams will be administered from May 14 - 17. Students currently enrolled in Algebra I, English 10, and Biology will take the Keystones, along with students who have been participating in the remediation program this semester. During these Keystone exams, students will test from 7:45 to 9:51 a.m.

The school will be operating on a 2-hour delay schedule for any student who IS NOT taking a Keystone Exam.  Busses will run on a regular schedule with normal pick up times.  If a student is not testing and chooses to come in on a 2-hour delay schedule he/she will need to provide his/her own transportation.  Students that are not testing and arrive to school at the normal time will go to study hall during the testing time.

Per state regulations, students who are participating in Keystone exams are not allowed to have cell phones or other electronic devices during testing. (Please see the attached information from Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding electronic devices.) To ensure proper security during testing, the test administrators will collect all cell phones and electronic devices before testing and place them in a clear plastic bin located in the room during each exam session. Students found to have electronic devices with them during testing will face possible disciplinary actions from the high school administration and their test will not be scored, requiring them to retake the entire exam. Please note that these regulations are not meant to be punitive, but are necessary to maintain the integrity and validity of test results.

Proficiency in the Keystone exam for Algebra, Literature, and Biology are required for graduation. Additional information from the PA Department of Education concerning Keystone Exams is enclosed.
