Meet the Superintendent

  • Michele Balliet Photo In January 2012, the board of school directors unanimously approved Michele Balliet as the Elizabethtown Area School District's seventh superintendent. Dr. Balliet joined the district in June 2008 as assistant superintendent for elementary education.

    Before coming to Elizabethtown in her administrative capacity, Dr. Balliet served as the assistant to the superintendent for curriculum and instruction, K-12, for neighboring Lower Dauphin School District. Dr. Balliet began her career in education with the East Penn School District as an elementary teacher. During the course of her seven years with East Penn, she taught first, second, and fourth grades. After leaving East Penn, she served in several educational consultant roles before joining the Capital Area Intermediate Unit as a K-12 curriculum specialist.
     
    Dr. Balliet holds a doctorate degree in educational leadership and management from Drexel University, a master's degree in academic curriculum and instruction from Penn State University, and a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education from Kutztown University.
     
    Dr. Balliet has extensive knowledge in elementary education, curriculum leadership, and learning focused schools. She also has administrative expertise in the areas of program design, project implementation, professional staff development, federal programming, and grant writing.

    Dr. Balliet is committed to providing the best instructional leadership in order to ensure that all students are able to meet their fullest potential and become productive, life long learners. She considers education to be the foundation for a student's success in both school and life.
