Overview
- Construction on the 11,925 square foot addition to the facility began in November 2010.
- The main interior renovation to the existing building began in June 2011.
- The expansion and renovation of the facility reached the substantial completion point in August 2012 with the full building being occupied for the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
- After completion of the construction project, East High Street Elementary School grew from 47,955-square-feet to 59,880-square-feet.
- The two-story addition to the building included a music classroom, art classroom, computer lab, four small group instruction rooms, restrooms, and a 2,400-square-foot gymnasium.
- As part of the expansion and renovation project, the school’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded for improved building efficiencies.
- Separate parent and bus drop-off areas were built to ensure student and pedestrian safety.
- A 7,500-square-foot remodeled and certified soft-surface play area affords students the opportunity to engage in recreational outdoor activities in a safe and secure location.
- New technology fills the school to back the district’s belief that online resources support and boost student learning. High-tech computer labs, classroom computer stations, and wireless technology allow for active student engagement and play a critical role in the delivery of instruction.
- At the time of its re-dedication in November 2012, East High Street Elementary School was occupied by 491 students, 33 teachers, 25 support staff members, and 1 administrator.
