Policy 805.3 - School Security Personnel Use of Force

In the District's continued commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and visitors, per School Board Policy 805.3 - School Security Personnel Use of Force, provides for an enhanced school security protocol. Beginning November 1, 2023, the District's two uniformed credentialed safety and security professionals are authorized to carry a firearm on our campus as part of their employment responsibilities.

The decision to permit our safety team to carry a firearm took into account research of other school district protocols, the Pennsylvania School Code, and ongoing collaboration with local law enforcement agencies. The safety of our school community is paramount, and the District is taking this step to enhance our ability to respond effectively to any potential security threats.
