Safety and Security

The safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors is one of the Elizabethtown Area School District's highest priorities. The District maintains a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to school safety that combines secure facilities, emergency preparedness, prevention, partnerships, and continuous improvement to create safe learning environments where students can thrive.

Our approach to school safety extends beyond emergency response. It includes maintaining secure school facilities, providing ongoing professional development for staff, conducting regular emergency drills, collaborating closely with local law enforcement and first responders, encouraging anonymous reporting through the Safe2Say Something program, maintaining comprehensive Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs), and routinely reviewing safety practices through assessments, tabletop exercises, and continuous planning.

School safety is a shared responsibility. By working together with students, families, staff, first responders, and community partners, the District strives to maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for every student.
