2026-2027 Budget Overview
At its regularly scheduled Action Meeting on June 9, 2026, the Elizabethtown Area School District Board of School Directors approved the 2026–2027 final budget.
The approved budget includes projected revenues of $84,782,568 and reflects a projected budget surplus of $319,215 following several months of budget review and refinement. During the budget development process, District administrators identified more than $2.4 million in savings through operational efficiencies, staffing adjustments, retirements, and other cost-saving measures, transforming an initial projected deficit into a projected surplus.
As part of the approved budget, the Board designated $1,180,762 for the District's Building Reserve Fund. These funds will help support future capital improvement projects, including the planned renovation and addition to the secondary school complex, while reducing the need for future borrowing and supporting the District's long-term financial plan.
The budget was developed over several months and reflects the District's commitment to maintaining high-quality educational programs while responsibly managing taxpayer resources. Throughout the process, administrators reviewed expenditures, evaluated staffing needs, and identified opportunities to reduce costs while continuing to support students and staff.
To support the approved budget, the Board adopted a 4.3% real estate tax increase, consistent with the Act 1 index approved earlier in the budget process.
Key budget savings were achieved through attrition, retirements, staffing realignments, and operational efficiencies, allowing the District to maintain educational programming while strengthening its financial position.
The 2026–2027 budget supports the District's mission that every student graduates ready to live, learn, and thrive in a global community.
