Buildings and Grounds

To ensure a safe and enhanced learning environment, the Elizabethtown Area School District maintains its buildings and grounds to the highest standards. This includes the interior of all district buildings and the campus grounds(parking lots, sidewalks, roadways, athletic fields, etc.). The school grounds consist of 132 acres, seven schools totaling 598,992 square feet. The buildings and grounds department consists of approximately 50 employees including a physical plant director, mechanical maintenance staff, grounds maintenance crew, custodial maintenance staff and warehouse staff.

The mechanical maintenance department services all district equipment and systems from electrical to plumbing as well as refrigeration equipment. The department also performs countless preventative maintenance services for a variety of systems including water and septic systems, grease traps, and the HVAC equipment.

The grounds maintenance department is responsible for mowing, lining, fertilizing, watering, and mulching the 132-acre campus including the athletic fields. The custodial maintenance department is charged with maintaining a clean, safe, healthy school environment while the warehouse staff oversees the purchasing of custodial supplies and teacher classroom supplies.

The buildings and fields are available for use by the outside public under district-set policies and procedures. Inquiries or requests to use district facilities, buildings or grounds must be made through the Elizabethtown Area School District.
