The musical achievements of six talented Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) and Middle School (EAMS) students were celebrated at the 2025 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Band Festival, held January 24-25 at Lampeter-Strasburg High School.
Representing EAHS were flutists Elaina Smith and Hayden Simione, clarinetist Olivia Black, baritone saxophonist Eleyas Kettering, and bassoonist Marley Stauffer. Additionally, EAMS percussionist Carson Hoffmaster earned a spot in the prestigious ensemble, showcasing the breadth of musical talent across the district.
These students were selected through a highly competitive audition process, which required mastering challenging music specific to their instruments. They joined 153 of the top high school musicians from Lancaster, York, Dauphin, Lebanon, Adams, and Berks Counties to form the district band.
Under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Tonya Mitchell-Spradlin, Director of Wind Ensemble and Assistant Professor of Music at Penn State University, the ensemble performed an impressive program, offering students the unique opportunity to collaborate with their talented peers.
“These students worked very hard and auditioned to be part of this ensemble. Their dedication, commitment, and musicianship should be commended and celebrated,” said Kristin Novak, EAHS Director of Bands. “Elizabethtown Area High School and Middle School are fortunate to have such outstanding students representing our district.”
