The Elizabethtown Area School District is proud to announce that its English Language Development (ELD) program at Bainbridge and East High Street Elementary Schools has been recognized as one of the Top 100 schools in the nation for growth in Flashlight 360 benchmark scores.
This national honor specifically highlights the achievement of the second-grade level, as Flashlight 360 is currently used with second-grade students only within the District’s K–2 grade band. The significant growth demonstrated by Elizabethtown’s second-grade English learners places the district among the leading programs nationwide.
Flashlight 360 is a research-based, computer platform designed to monitor and assess the development of productive language skills—with a focus on speaking and writing—for English Language Learners. The program provides valuable insights to educators and supports targeted instruction to help students strengthen their academic language.
The following second-grade students were recognized for their outstanding growth:
- Bainbridge Elementary: Saray Trough, Hadassa Tema, Stephen Bhattarai, Precious Gurung, and Ethan Yang
- East High Street Elementary: Mary Klohtoobaugh, Jacob Chastain, Aahan Gurung, Biplove Chapagai, Asiel Cachu, Anya Shumova, Archan Bhattarai, and Allan Martes Rosa
The success of the program is a reflection of the outstanding instruction provided by Nancy Grundhoffer and Colleen Sites, the District’s primary-level ELD teachers. The District celebrates this recognition as a testament to the hard work of its educators and the remarkable progress of its students.
