Elizabethtown Area School District Welcomes New Professional Staff with Orientation Week

The Elizabethtown Area School District proudly hosted its 2024 New Professional Staff Orientation Week from Monday, August 12th, through Thursday, August 15th. Organized by Dr. Nate Frank, curriculum & federal programs coordinator, the event provided an in-depth introduction to district operations, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for seven incoming professional staff members. Dr. Frank was supported by Dr. Karen Nell, superintendent of schools; Dr. Daphne Kirkpatrick, assistant superintendent; and Richard Schwarzman, assistant to the superintendent.

The new educators and support professionals engaged in a series of activities designed to familiarize them with the District’s Life Ready Model, Culture of Belonging efforts, and its Benefits-Based Accountability initiative. Sessions covered ALICE and safety training, restorative practices, professional growth and instructional coaching, the Leader in Me program, and a deep dive into the district’s mission, values, and goals. These professional learning sessions aimed to prepare staff for a successful and impactful year in their new roles.
