Ninth graders at Elizabethtown Area High School recently had the opportunity to explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through the STEM Summit, a collaborative initiative with Junior Achievement of Central PA. This event aimed to ignite students' interest in STEM careers by providing hands-on experiences and real-world applications.
Students participated in various interactive activities throughout the day, highlighting different STEM disciplines, including biology, chemistry, electrical engineering, manufacturing, mathematics, physics, and technology. Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology also led a special session focusing on environmental science. Students rotated through nine stations, each dedicated to a specific area of STEM, giving them a broad view of potential career paths.
The STEM Summit sought to connect classroom learning with real-world career opportunities and to emphasize the significance of pursuing a career in STEM. The event's success was bolstered by the support of community and student volunteers, who shared their expertise and insights to enrich the students' experience.
By combining engaging STEM activities with practical knowledge, the STEM Summit gave Elizabethtown Area High School students a deeper understanding of STEM career options, encouraging them to consider these fields for their futures.
