East High Street Elementary Hosts Leadership Assembly Featuring High School Guests

East High Street Elementary School held its monthly leadership assembly today, celebrating its commitment to fostering leadership and character development through the Leader in Me program. The assembly, which highlighted Habit 2: Beginning with the End in Mind, recognized students from each grade level who exemplified this important principle.

Adding excitement to the event were special appearances by the Elizabethtown Area High School field hockey team, the high school cheerleaders, and Emma Griffith and Anika Walsh, student representatives to the school board.

During the assembly, members of the field hockey team, along with Emma and Anika, participated in a mini question-and-answer session. Elementary students had the opportunity to ask them questions about goal-setting and preparing for success, providing meaningful insights from their older peers into how planning and determination lead to achievement.

The assembly concluded with a fun-filled moment that had students cheering as Principal Megan Moffett and Assistant Principal Derek Witmer received a pie in the face. This raucous finale was a reward for the school's successful PTO Run for Fun fundraiser, held earlier this school year.

The Leader in Me program plays a vital role in helping students set personal goals, enhance their social skills, and develop leadership qualities. By emphasizing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the program builds character, promotes academic success, and strengthens the school’s positive environment while encouraging student empowerment and community involvement.
