Elizabethtown Area High School orchestra members Sonja Cradic and Addison Moyer represented EAHS this summer as student ambassadors at the 2026 Susquehanna University String Summit, a weeklong experience that brought together accomplished student musicians for intensive rehearsals, performances and opportunities to connect through music.

Cradic, a violinist, and Moyer, a violist, were nominated for the program by Richard Winey, orchestra director at Elizabethtown Area High School. Participating students were selected based on their advanced playing level, commitment and character.

Throughout the week, Cradic and Moyer rehearsed alongside other student musicians while strengthening their technique, musicality and overall musicianship. The ensemble prepared six pieces representing a wide variety of musical styles and traditions, including Latin-inspired music, an African American spiritual and a complex finale from an English symphony.

The experience also gave students an opportunity to put their work into practice through performances and a multi-day tour. Along the way, students visited New York City and Lincoln Center, providing another opportunity to experience the arts beyond the rehearsal room.

Just as importantly, the summit provided opportunities for students to build connections with fellow musicians. Time spent together throughout the week, including a visit to Six Flags Great Adventure, allowed participants to develop new friendships while sharing an experience centered around their common interest in music.

Cradic and Moyer were recognized by the Elizabethtown Area School District Board of School Directors at its September Action Meeting for their selection and participation in the summit.
