Elizabethtown Area Middle School is proud to recognize its February Students of the Month, honoring students who demonstrate strong character, leadership, and personal growth. This recognition is part of the school’s Leader in Me initiative, which promotes leadership development, positive relationships, and student ownership throughout the school year. Each month, teachers reflect on students within their teams through the lens of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, identifying those who exemplify a specific habit or who have shown meaningful growth in that area.
For February, the focus was on Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, which emphasizes listening before responding. The students recognized this month consistently demonstrated their ability to genuinely hear others’ ideas, perspectives, and feelings before sharing their own. By listening with their ears, eyes, and hearts, and without interrupting, they contributed to thoughtful conversations and positive interactions in their classrooms. At the same time, they showed confidence in expressing their own thoughts clearly and respectfully.
The following students were selected for exemplifying Habit 5 in their daily interactions with peers and staff.
