Elizabethtown Area High School Orchestra Presents: “Mr. Winey's InterGalactic Dance Party!”

The Elizabethtown Area High School Orchestra is excited to invite the public to their highly anticipated Pops Concert, scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the High School Auditorium, and admission is free. We welcome all members of the community to join us for a night of captivating music and vibrant performances.

This year's student-created Pops Concert theme is "Mr. Winey's InterGalactic Dance Party!" - a creative mix of music referencing dance styles and space-themed music.  The high school student musicians have chosen selections for the concert, showcasing the talents of the 83-member High School Orchestra and the 29-member Middle School Allegro Ensemble.

The repertoire for the concert is diverse. Audiences can look forward to a stirring rendition of Mars and Jupiter themes from Holst's suite "The Planets."  Broadway choreography is represented with a medley of dance numbers from the musical "Chicago."  Classic rock fans will enjoy a high-energy performance of Van Halen Hits, with the addition of lead guitar and electric bass to the mix.  The strings will perform two recent singles from current artists: Laufey's "From the Start" - a bossa nova-inspired tune, and Hozier's "Too Sweet", complete with bass and drum set. Several other space and dance-themed surprises are in store.

This year's concert will once again feature the addition of electric string instruments to the orchestra program. Thanks to a generous grant from the Elizabethtown Area School District Music Club (music boosters), last year the district purchased four electric string instruments. Electric four and five-string violins, electric viola, and electric cello are sure to add dimension, featuring soloists from the high school orchestra.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, sections of the orchestra will dress in costumes that align with the concert's theme, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the evening. After the concert, we invite attendees to stay and enjoy refreshments, providing an opportunity to mingle and share their thoughts on the splendid performances.
