Elizabethtown Area High School Names February Rotary Club Students of the Month

Elizabethtown Area High School is proud to recognize its February Rotary Club Students of the Month: Ellia Spang and Jack Ketchum. This honor celebrates students who exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, service, and involvement within the school and greater community.

Ellia Spang

Ellia is the daughter of Daniel and Marjorie Spang of Elizabethtown.

Ellia is a strong student who has maintained consistent academic success throughout high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society, demonstrating commitment to the pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and is a regular member of the Honor Roll.

A dedicated leader within the school community, Ellia serves as Student Council President and previously held the roles of Historian and Dance Chair. She is the Secretary of Future Business Leaders of America and a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Ellia is also a Team Captain of the Volleyball Team and participates in Track and Field. Ellia is also actively involved in planning and organizing events that strengthen school culture, including food drives, school dances, teacher appreciation breakfasts, student breakfasts, and May Day activities.

Outside of school, Ellia works as a cashier at Giant and as a chicken farmer at Gretna View Farms. She attends Newport Church, where she volunteers in the children’s ministry teaching Sunday school and participates in weekly youth group.

Following graduation, Ellia plans to attend Messiah University to study nursing while continuing her athletic career as a member of the university’s volleyball team.

Jack is the son of Neil and Beth Ketchum of Elizabethtown.

Jack is a dedicated student who has demonstrated consistent academic achievement throughout high school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and is a regular member of the Honor Roll.

Jack Ketchum

Jack is highly involved in school leadership and extracurricular activities. He serves as Class Secretary and is President of the Band. He is also co-founder and co-president of the EAHS Debate Club and a member of the Orchestra. In athletics, Jack has served as Captain of the Swimming Team his junior and senior seasons.

His accomplishments extend beyond the school setting. Jack has been recognized as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-American. He also works as a lifeguard at Willowood Swim Club.

After graduation, Jack plans to attend Brown University to pursue a degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics while competing on the Men’s Swimming and Diving team.
