The Elizabethtown Area High School Esports team is bringing home another state title after its Marvel Rivals team defeated Westmont Hilltop 3-0 to claim the State Championship at the State Grand Championships on Saturday, May 30, held in person at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

The championship marks the program’s second straight appearance at the State Grand Championships and continues an impressive run of success for Elizabethtown Area High School Esports. In 2025, the school’s Overwatch team captured the State Championship. This year, the Marvel Rivals team carried that championship standard forward with a dominant sweep on the state stage.

“Back-to-back Grand Championship appearances are impressive. Bringing home state titles in back-to-back seasons says something even bigger about the culture these students are building,” said Austin Henderson, Head Coach of the Esports program. “This Marvel Rivals team showed focus, confidence, and trust in each other from start to finish. To sweep Westmont Hilltop 3-0 in the state championship is an incredible accomplishment, and it reflects the hours of preparation, communication, and teamwork they put into this season. We are also extremely proud of Aaden Roush, who battled hard on the state stage and earned a top-10 finish in Pennsylvania for Smash individuals. Our students represented Elizabethtown with pride, and they continue to raise the standard for our program.”

In addition to the Marvel Rivals team’s championship run, Aaden Roush represented Elizabethtown Area High School Esports as an individual competitor in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the State Grand Championships. Roush battled hard on the state stage, competing against some of Pennsylvania’s top Smash players before ultimately falling in his matchup. His performance capped an outstanding season and secured him a top-10 finish in the state for Smash individual competitors.

The victory highlights the continued growth and success of esports at Elizabethtown Area High School, where students compete in a fast-growing field that emphasizes strategy, leadership, communication, adaptability, and teamwork.

With the 3-0 win over Westmont Hilltop, Elizabethtown Area High School Esports adds another state championship to its program history and continues to establish itself as one of Pennsylvania’s top high school esports programs.
