Bear Creek Teams Compete at 2026 K’NEX STEM Design Challenge

Bear Creek School proudly sent two teams to this year’s K’NEX STEM Design Challenge, joining four additional teams from two other schools for a total of six competing teams. This year’s challenge tasked students with building a prototype of a machine, or part of a factory, that incorporates sustainable practices.

Both Bear Creek teams demonstrated strong collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Students confidently shared their prototypes with judges and fellow competitors, clearly explaining how their designs addressed sustainability.

The fourth-grade team, Plastic Pros, included Joycelyn Nguyen, Kellan Quenzer, Poppy Poterjoy, and Milo Strausbaugh. The fifth-grade team, Lean Green Machine, included Marshall Thackera, Myles Reed, Miles Beyler, and Watson Heikel. The Lean Green Machine team earned third place in the K’NEX STEM Design Challenge for their project.

The K’Nex Challenge Competition evaluates teams on creativity, design, functionality, teamwork, and presentation. Experiences like the K’NEX STEM Design Challenge provide students with opportunities to apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts in hands-on, real-world problem-solving situations.

Congratulations to all students for their outstanding achievements in this regional competition.
