Bear Creek Fifth Graders Mark Colonial Day During Nation’s 250th Anniversary

Just before spring recess, fifth graders at Bear Creek School took part in the school’s annual Colonial Day, an immersive experience that brings their study of early American history to life. This year’s program carried added significance as the nation begins celebrating its 250th anniversary.

More than 250 students rotated through hands-on stations exploring daily life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Throughout the day, students learned traditional dances, played colonial-era games, and participated in a variety of crafts and activities that reflected the time period.

Parent volunteers, many dressed in period attire, helped lead stations and create an engaging, authentic atmosphere.

Colonial Day serves as the culminating experience for the fifth-grade social studies unit, giving students a meaningful connection to early American history. The program remains a highlight of the year and reflects Bear Creek School’s continued focus on active, experiential learning.
