Third Graders from Bear Creek School Book Club Visit East High Street Elementary to Share Favorite Books

Third graders from Bear Creek School’s book club concluded their school year with a special visit to East High Street Elementary School, where they met with second graders to discuss some of their favorite books.

As part of this engaging visit, the third graders created customized t-shirts adorned with illustrations showcasing their chosen books. The books included popular titles such as the I Survived series, Lemonade War, Rules, Third Grade Angels, Spy Academy, Ranger in Time, Stone Fox, Kickoff!, Frindle, Jackie Robinson & the Year of the Boar, Because of Winn-Dixie, Hatchet, and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

During the visit, the third graders shared their t-shirts with the second graders, explaining the illustrations and discussing what they enjoyed about the books they selected.

This final project not only allowed third graders to showcase their creativity and love for reading but also served as an early introduction to Bear Creek School’s book club for the younger students. It provided an opportunity for the second graders to start forming connections with their peers and get excited about joining the book club in the future.

The project was coordinated by Bear Creek School’s gifted teacher, Eric Balak, who emphasized the importance of fostering a love for reading and building peer connections across grade levels.
