Elizabethtown Area High School Students Win Top Honors at 2024 Theatre Apollo Awards

Elizabethtown Area High School students Claire Hanlon and Brendan Fritz garnered top honors at the prestigious 2024 Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards, an esteemed recognition program celebrating excellence in high school musical theater across Central Pennsylvania.

Claire triumphed as Best Actress in a Musical (Mary Poppins) for her enchanting portrayal of Mary Poppins. Brendan distinguished himself by winning Best Actor in a Musical (Mary Poppins) for his role as Bert and Best Actor in a Play (The Play That Goes Wrong) for his dynamic performance as Max/Cecil/Arthur.

The Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards honor exceptional achievements in high school musical theater across Central Pennsylvania. Recognized as a hallmark of excellence, the awards celebrate the dedication and talent of students and schools, encouraging the arts and supporting the next generation of performers.

EAHS Theater Director Christine Blaisdell expressed her immense pride in all the students who participated in this year's productions. "The musical cast performed on stage and was practically perfect! Our students were respectful, supportive of each other and other schools, and showed class and grace all day," Blaisdell remarked. "I am so proud of not only Brendan and Claire but also all the students who were amazing representatives of EAHS theater!"

EAHS received nominations in both the play and musical categories, reflecting the school's broad spectrum of talent. In the play category, EAHS earned an Outstanding Play nomination for its performance of "The Play That Goes Wrong." The school's production of "Mary Poppins" also received nominations for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Student Orchestra, and Outstanding Dance.

These achievements underscore EAHS's commitment to fostering artistic excellence and teamwork among its students. The school community is thrilled to celebrate these accomplishments and looks forward to many more stellar performances in the future.
