The pre-apprenticeship program was offered in collaboration with the local Emergency Medical Services provider. During this cooperative work experience program, students developed various essential skills and knowledge areas required to become EMTs. Key components included basic life support techniques such as CPR, airway management, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Additionally, they learned to conduct patient assessments, administer emergency medications, control bleeding, perform wound care, and stabilize fractures.

After completing this comprehensive pre-apprenticeship program, the students are now prepared to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). They are also ready to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS examinations.

The EMS Pre-Apprenticeship program aligns with the District's Life Ready Model, an educational strategy designed to equip students with the confidence and skills necessary for success after graduation. This model focuses on providing instruction, learning opportunities, and experiences that foster essential skills for college, career, and life.

In addition to the EMS program, Elizabethtown Area High School offers several other pre-apprenticeship programs. These include partnerships with the Independent Electrical Contractors, the Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, the Manufacturing Association, and a Certified Nursing Assistant program through Masonic Village.
