Student Scholarships
Opening Doors to Future Possibilities
The Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation is proud to offer eight scholarships and career-readiness awards exclusively to graduating Elizabethtown Area High School students.
Through the Foundation’s own resources and partnerships with generous individuals, families, community members, and organizations, these awards help students take their next steps with confidence. They recognize achievement, service, future goals, and the many pathways students may pursue after high school—including college, career training, the skilled trades, technical fields, athletics, and more.

Available Scholarships and Awards
EAEF Citizenship Scholarship
The EAEF Citizenship Scholarship recognizes five graduating seniors who demonstrate exemplary citizenship through meaningful service that positively impacts their school and community.
Each recipient receives a one-time $750 scholarship, disbursed directly to the institution of higher learning in which the student is enrolled.
Jane Hoover Scholarship
The Jane Hoover Scholarship supports graduating seniors pursuing programs in health-related fields or physical education teaching.
The scholarship provides an annual award of $2,500, renewable for up to four years, for a maximum total award of $10,000.
Brad Longenecker Educational Award
Established by the estate of Brad Longenecker in memory of Brad Longenecker and Tom Miller, this fund is held at the Lancaster County Community Foundation and administered locally in partnership with the Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation.
The award supports graduating Elizabethtown Area High School students who have been formally involved in the varsity wrestling program. A total of $10,000 is available each year to support up to two student scholarships.
F. Barry Shaw Scholarship
The F. Barry Shaw Scholarship supports a graduating senior pursuing a program of study leading to a career in agriculture.
Applicants must be accepted to an institution of higher learning and enrolled in an agricultural education program. Selection also considers academic excellence and financial need.
Robert H. Brain Scholarship
The Robert H. Brain Scholarship supports first-generation postsecondary students—students who will be the first in their families to pursue education beyond high school.
The one-time $1,000 award is available to an outstanding graduating senior planning to attend a two-year or four-year institution, trade school, CTC adult learning campus, or accredited degree-granting online adult-learning program.
Class of 1978 Trades Scholarship
Made possible through the generosity of the Elizabethtown Area High School Class of 1978, this one-time $1,000 scholarship supports graduating seniors preparing for skilled-trade or technical careers.
The award may be used toward educational expenses related to vocational training, apprenticeships, industry-recognized certifications, or related pathways in areas such as construction, health care, information technology, manufacturing, and other technical fields.
Barb and Joe Murphy EAEF Work Ready Award
The EAEF Work Ready Award recognizes a graduating senior’s commitment to pursuing a vocational, technical, or trade-focused career.
The one-time $500 award is paid directly to the recipient and may be used for equipment, supplies, uniforms, or other items that support the student’s study or entry into the workforce.
Dennis J. Brown Softball Scholarship
The Dennis J. Brown Softball Scholarship supports a graduating senior who has participated in interscholastic softball at Elizabethtown Area High School and plans to continue playing at the intercollegiate level.
Eligible applicants must have participated on the softball team for at least two years and played on the varsity team during their senior year.
