Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program

Turn Tax Dollars Into Local Opportunity

The Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that connects the generosity of businesses and community partners with opportunities that enrich and enhance public education for Elizabethtown Area School District students.

Through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, eligible businesses can redirect a portion of their state tax liability to support educational programs that help EASD students prepare for successful futures.

How EITC Works

Administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the EITC program provides tax credits to eligible Pennsylvania businesses that contribute to approved educational organizations.

Businesses may receive a tax credit equal to 75 percent of their contribution, up to the program’s annual limit. A business that makes the same contribution for two consecutive tax years may qualify for a 90 percent tax credit.

EITC applications are submitted through the Commonwealth’s online application system and are approved while available tax credits remain. Because funding is limited, businesses are encouraged to begin the process early.

Who May Be Eligible?

Businesses authorized to do business in Pennsylvania and subject to one or more eligible state taxes may participate in EITC. Eligible taxes include:

  • Personal Income Tax
  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Bank Shares Tax
  • Insurance Premium Tax
  • Capital Stock/Foreign Franchise Tax
  • Several additional Pennsylvania business taxes

Businesses should consult their tax adviser to determine eligibility and the potential benefit for their organization.

The Local Impact of Your Contribution

EITC contributions made to the Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation support the Foundation’s Career & Workforce Readiness Initiative.

This work helps students identify their skills, interests, strengths, and future opportunities—and connect those discoveries to meaningful college, career, and workforce goals. Support may help expand career exploration, technical training, work-based learning, pre-apprenticeship experiences, and other opportunities that give students a competitive edge after high school.

By choosing the Foundation as your EITC partner, your business can help prepare EASD students for success in college, careers, the skilled trades, military service, and the workforce.
