Early Childhood Partnerships
The Elizabethtown Area School District is an active partner in the First 10 partnership, which brings together school districts, elementary schools, early childhood programs, and community agencies to improve the quality and coordination of education and care for young children and their families. Motivated by a commitment to educational equity, they work to improve teaching and learning, deepen partnerships with families, and provide comprehensive services for children and their families.
Partnering with national First 10 consultant, David Jacobson, the District is working to connect families to our school district community as early as prenatally through the entrance to Kindergarten. Working collaboratively with early learning partners, community agencies and the school district we are striving to build coherent systems of support for young children and their families to ensure all children in our community are well prepared to enter Kindergarten. This goal encompasses academic and social and emotional learning and physical and mental health as priorities, ensuring that all children have opportunities and supports to enable their success. By providing a Welcome to Elizabethtown School District baby bags (including children’s books, community resources and a small gift for the new baby), Play and Learn opportunities to connect families to each other and community resources, and professional development between Early Learning Providers and Kindergarten teachers, we are tackling the barriers that might prevent community connections and kindergarten success.
