A Closer Look - Academics and the Life Ready Model
The Elizabethtown Area School District embraces a three-pronged approach that integrates academic excellence (Life Ready Model), robust student support services, and a strong culture of belonging. Together, these three prongs form the foundation of our educational strategy, guiding every aspect of our work to ensure that all students succeed academically and feel supported and connected throughout their school journey.
In this section of the website, we take a closer look at our robust learning environments.
At the core of our academic programming is the District's innovative LIFE READY MODEL, which extends from kindergarten through twelfth grade. This approach provides a dynamic curriculum and a continuum of personalized learning experiences tailored to each student's unique strengths, interests, and aspirations. Our goal is to customize programs, services, and support to ensure that every student can achieve their ambitions, regardless of their needs.
The Life Ready Model goes beyond traditional curriculum; it fosters a mindset that integrates personalized, career-specific learning opportunities with a focus on developing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. From the earliest grades, students are prepared to meet the demands of an ever-changing world by engaging in real-world learning experiences.
Grounded in the principle that our graduates should be well-prepared for life after high school, the Life Ready Model aims to equip them with the knowledge, skills, emotional resilience, and civic awareness necessary to pursue any of the following pathways:
- Securing a career with a livable wage
- Continuing education at a postsecondary institution
- Serving in the nation's armed forces

Life Ready Model Framework
Building on our mission of Every Student Graduates Ready to Live, Learn, and Thrive in a Global Community, the District’s Platforms for Success further define a profile of an Elizabethtown Area High School graduate. In essence, it is the District’s goal for our graduates to have the knowledge, skills, social and emotional resiliency, and civic awareness necessary to be in a position to successfully pursue at least one of the following paths after graduating from our high school:
- Obtain a career that pays a livable wage.
- Attend a postsecondary institution to further their education.
- Seek an opportunity in our nation’s armed forces.
When we stay laser focused on supporting our students with pursuing one of these platforms, we can transform our children's school experience and, in turn, positively impact our communities. In addition, we can move away from a system that measures success by standardized test scores and homework projects alone to a school system centered around benefiting our students and their futures, measuring success in a multitude of ways.
