Request for Review of Library Material
The Elizabethtown Area School District is committed to maintaining library collections that are well-balanced, age-appropriate, and responsive to students’ learning and developmental needs.
Parents, guardians, and other eligible individuals who believe that a library material may not comply with Policies 109, Library Materials, or 109.1, Age-Appropriate Standards for Library and Curriculum, may request a formal review of that material.
Before You Submit a Request
A request for review is different from a title restriction for an individual student.
- A title restriction allows a parent or guardian to limit their own child’s access to a specific title. Families may use the Destiny Parent Portal and the District’s Title Restriction Notification Form for this purpose.
- A request for review asks the District to consider whether a material should remain available under District policy.
Submitting a request for review does not automatically remove a material from the District’s collection. Materials will be considered through the review process established in District policy.
How to Submit a Request
Please complete the Request for Review of Library Material Form below. Submit one form for each title you would like the District to review.
When completing the form, please provide the complete title and author of the material, identify the school or library where it is available, and describe your concern as specifically as possible.
What Happens Next
After a completed request is received, the District will review the material and consider the request in accordance with Policies 109 and 109.1 and the established review process.
The District will communicate with the individual who submitted the request regarding the outcome of the review.
