Curriculum Development & Board Approval

The Elizabethtown Area School District follows a structured curriculum development, evaluation, and modification process in accordance with Board Policy 105. This collaborative process ensures that curriculum remains current, academically rigorous, and responsive to the needs of students while supporting the District's mission, strategic priorities, and Life Ready Model.

Curriculum development is grounded in the District's five-year curriculum review cycle, during which teachers and administrators work together to evaluate existing curriculum, revise instructional content, review instructional resources, and recommend improvements. This collaborative approach helps ensure that curriculum remains aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and reflects current educational best practices.

Following the curriculum development and review process, proposed curriculum revisions, new courses, and, when required, instructional materials and textbooks are presented to the Board of School Directors for review and approval prior to implementation.
