UPDATE - April 1, 2022
Special ceremonies have been planned at Mill Road and Rheems Elementary Schools to commemorate their legacies in the Elizabethtown Area School District. The Mill Road observance will be held on May 4 and the Rheems observance on May 11. Students, faculty, parents, alumni, friends, and the community-at-large are invited to the special celebrations that will begin 5:30 p.m.
Both schools will be closing their doors permanently at the end of the current school year. The ceremonies are designed to celebrate the schools’ long educational tradition in our communities. The celebration will include:
- Student performances
- Open House of the school
- A symbolic flag raising and lowering
- Photos from past
- Reception in the school cafeterias
Both existing buildings opened for the 1956-1957 school year. As the schools get ready to say goodbye, the impact and legacy of each will always last. Many memories and friendships have been made over the past 66 years. As such, the District is creating a display of favorite memories and traditions from Mill Road and Rheems Elementary Schools (past and present). Click on the respective link below to submit a written or picture memory.
District and school administration encourage all to spread the word about this special celebration to past Mill Road and Rheems students, faculty, staff, and administration.
