A Closer Look - EASD Overview

The Elizabethtown Area School District, an award-winning public school system, is nestled in the picturesque setting of Lancaster County, just 20 miles from Harrisburg and Lancaster. It boasts easy accessibility via major roadways and the rail system.

Serving nearly 3,600 students, the District employs approximately 450 full and part-time staff across three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The curriculum is meticulously crafted and continually updated to ensure every student is equipped to thrive in a global community.

The Elizabethtown Area School District embraces a holistic approach to education, recognizing that student success depends on a cohesive system centered around academics, support services, and fostering healthy learning environments. At the core of our efforts is a three-pronged approach that integrates academic excellence (Life Ready Model), robust student support services, and a strong culture of belonging. Together, these three prongs form the foundation of our educational strategy, guiding every aspect of our work to ensure that all students succeed academically and feel supported and connected throughout their school journey.

Supporting this three-pronged approach is our Benefits-Based Accountability Framework and Effective Operations. Benefits-based Accountability is built on the following seven distinct pillars, each with its own unique success criteria:

  1. Student Learning
  2. Student Readiness
  3. Engaged, Well-Rounded Students
  4. Well-Being
  5. Community Connections
  6. Effective Adults
  7. Effective Systems.

While each pillar plays a vital role in driving success, together they are the glue that unites our focus on academics, support services, and a culture of belonging. By uniting academics, student support services, and a culture of belonging, we create a comprehensive framework that supports student success and ensures the Elizabethtown Area School District remains a first-rate educational system.
