2019-2020 Incoming Freshmen Info
It's not too soon for incoming freshmen and their parents to begin thinking about participating in the Elizabethtown Area High School music programs.
Marching Band Camp, for example, is mandatory for all band members, including incoming freshmen. It is scheduled for August 5-8, 2019 from 8am – 5pm. Make sure that you schedule your summer vacations with band camp in mind! Band Camp is a great way to get to know lots of your fellow freshmen as well as upperclassmen and will give you a head start on high school. Click here for some general information we provide to freshmen families. The EASD music staff attempts to provide eighth graders and their parents with a number of opportunities to learn about participation in the band programs. For example, Middle School Band Night is an event where eighth graders experience an EAHS football game from the perspective of a band member without having to learn any drill.
Other useful resources for the parents of incoming freshmen who want more information about the High School music programs are available on this website. They include the following:
* The website itself provides information on the various activities and other events in which Elizabethtown’s music students participate. Feel free to browse around the site to see what's going on.
*Here is the Notification of Absence form that we use for the band's performances. It contains all of the reasons that are excused by school policy. Attendance at all of our events is required, but sometimes things happen. Please understand that while our fall schedules seems like a lot, it really is not very strenuous compared to any school that fields a compettition band. We are keenly aware that our students have lives outside of band, but you need to be aware that when students miss a marching band performance, we don't have a second string to put in. Attendance at all band functions is vital to the success and quality of our shows. When students are missing, it makes the performance of the others who are still present extremely difficult and somethimes virtually impossible to do and do well. Please make sure that you review the band's calendar and plan accordingly. You can can sync it straight to your smart device so you have the schedule at your fingertips!
