About the Community
Located twenty miles from Harrisburg, Lancaster and York, the Elizabethtown Area School District is situated in picturesque Lancaster County. With a population of over 27,000 residents, the district is comprised of Elizabethtown Borough, Conoy Township and West Donegal Township as well as a portion of Mount Joy Township.
The area thrives with local business and is home to M&M Mars, one of the nation's leading chocolate manufacturers and the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, a premier continuing care retirement community, children's home and community service organization. Elizabethtown is also home to Elizabethtown College, a small liberal arts school ranked as one of the best colleges in the northern United States by U.S. News and World Report.
Providing recreational and educational programs to the community are Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care (EACTC), the Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS) and the Elizabethtown Public Library. EACTC provides positive activities, expanded resources and opportunities for involvement to students, their families and the community at large. GEARS offers an array of activities including before and after school programs as well as, a number of recreational activities including trips and sports leagues.
