    Tax Collection Period
The District mails Real Estate Tax Bills directly to property owners on July 1 of each year.  If you own a property in the Elizabethtown Area School District and do not receive your tax bill, please call the Tax Office at (717) 367-1521. Taxpayers have until December 31 of each year to pay their taxes. Unpaid taxes will be considered delinquent after December 31 of each year. The District turns delinquent taxes over to the Lancaster County Tax Claim Bureau for collection. Taxpayers who pay their bill on or before August 31 of each year are entitled to a two percent (2%) discount on their bill. Additionally, the base amount is payable from September 1 to October 31 of each year. A ten percent (10%) penalty is already included on the bill if payment is received after November 1 of each year.

    Payment of Taxes
Online: Taxpayers may pay taxes online using a debit card, credit card, or electronic check (link is active July 1 through December 31 only). Our third-party provider assesses a service fee of 2.5% to process all debit/credit card payments. In addition, a flat fee of $1.50 will be assessed for electronic checks. If you desire a paid receipt, call the tax office at 717-367-1521 or email taxes@etownschools.org.

In-person: Taxpayers may pay their bill at Mid Penn Bank, located at 2305 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. The tax office does not accept payments at the District Office or our school buildings. If you desire a paid receipt, call the tax office at 717-367-1521 or email taxes@etownschools.org.

By Mail: To pay by mail, you should mail the bill along with a check made payable to Elizabethtown Area School District to PO Box 60730, Harrisburg, PA, 17106-0730.  The US Post Office postmark will determine the date of payment.  Only full payments will be accepted unless you enroll in the Installment Payment Plan. Incorrect amounts or late postmarks will be returned to the sender. If you desire a paid receipt, call the tax office at 717-367-1521 or email taxes@etownschools.org.

    Installment Payment
All property owners have the opportunity to make installment payments in three (3) installments on the base amount.  The first installment payment shall be 50% of the base amount, and the second and the third installment payments shall be 25% of the base amount.  You may pay the first payment as indicated on the tax bill by August 31. The second and third coupons will be mailed to you around the second week of September for payments due October 31 and December 31.  Payment of the first installment received on or before the due date will indicate your enrollment in the District's Installment Payment Plan. See the tax bill for the full terms and conditions of this payment plan.

    Interim Tax Bills
Throughout the year, interim tax bills are issued to all properties with new construction or improvements. Interims are issued after the Lancaster County Assessment Office assigns an assessed value to the property.
