    About Miss Martin...wall burst

    I will be your child's band teacher throughout their career at Bear Creek. Here is some information about me for you!

     

    This will be my 5th year as a band director and my first here at Bear Creek. I taught at the Solanco School district for 3 years before coming to Etown. I am originally from Maryland but went to college here in Etown and am currently taking courses at University of the Arts to obtain my M.Ed. On the side, I am a private woodwinds teacher. 

    I still perform as much as I can throughout the Lancaster area. I am a sub-in bass player and tenor saxophone player for many jazz groups and currently play bass in the Etown College-Community orchestra every semester. My primary instrument in college was the flute and I still enjoy playing and performing on that whenever I get the chance. 

    Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a music teacher. I taught myself guitar when I was 5 years old and remember trying to teach my stuffed animals how to play it as well (they couldn't get the fingers right but I think now I should try again since I have a degree)! I love teaching and playing and I hope to instill that love in every child I have the opportunity to teach. Music is a life long gift that keeps giving if you let it. 

    We are going to have a fantastic year and I cannot wait to get to know every student and family. I will be sending monthly newsletters home to keep families in the loop as well as communicate via phone, email, and Remind texts when applicable.     Favorite Sports Teams-

    I am a HUGE Capitals and Steelers fan. I also love to play volleyball!

     

    Favorite Type of Music - 

    Jazz, rock, classical, and anything that can get me groovin'!

     

    My Family - 

    My mother is also a music educator and one of my biggest influences. My father is a high school principal who likes to say he can play the kazoo pretty well! I have a very loving boyfriend and 2 lovely kitties, Clio and Champion, who I love posting pictures of!

    I love to play volleyball, do yoga, play disc golf and play with my cats. I also love hiking and going to the beach with my friends and family!
