Winter Weather Notifications
The District uses the School Messenger Emergency Notification System to communicate unplanned school delays, closings, and early dismissals due to inclement weather. Through the School Messenger system, the District can send a pre-recorded phone message, email, and/or text message to our families. The District also posts school delay, closing, and early dismissal information on its website, mobile app, and Facebook/Twitter pages, as well as on local television and radio stations.
Families MUST REGISTER EACH YEAR to receive a phone call or text message when school is DELAYED or CLOSED regardless of when the decision is made (i.e. night before or morning of the weather event).
For more information on or to register for Winter Weather Notifications, see below.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED ANNUALLY (VOLUNTARY)
The Federal Communication Commission mandates that families wishing to receive a text message from the District send a one-time text of "YES" or "Y" to the following number - 67587 - from the device you wish to receive the text message on. Until you send the one-time text message from your device you wish to receive the message, EASD texts will be blocked on your device and you will not receive text messages. Please note, you still must register a textable phone number with the District as part of Step One above. Simply sending a text of "YES" or "Y" to 67587 does not register you for Winter Weather notifications via text message.
REGISTRATION NOT REQUIRED FOR EARLY DISMISSAL NOTFICATION
For EARLY DISMISSALS, the District calls, texts, and emails ALL (no registration required) families using the contact information stored in our student information system. Please ensure contact information for parent/guardian is accurate including phone numbers, textable numbers, and email addresses. For the textable number(s) you have on file with the District, you must send a one-time message of "YES" or "Y" to the following number - 67587 - from the number/device you have provided to the District. Contact information can be reviewed and updated through the District's Community Portal.
