Four ninth graders from Elizabethtown Area High School recently teamed with the school’s student council to raise funds for the Elizabethtown Winter Shelter. As part of the students’ 20Time initiative, Alisia Alvarez, Taylore Bradley, Sophia Brinkman, and Makenna Heisey set a goal of raising several hundred dollars to help the shelter.
East High Street Elementary School launched its annual One School, One Book family literacy initiative. As part of the program, each student in the school received the same book to read outside the classroom to promote literacy and family involvement in each child’s education.
The holiday season will be a little merrier for several families of students at Elizabethtown Area Middle School thanks to the school’s faculty, staff, and administration. The staff provided 22 of its students with gifts this year as part of the school’s annual Angel Tree campaign.
The East High Street Elementary School Giving Tree and Winter Food Drive recently brought holiday joy to families less fortunate in the community. Through the generosity of the school’s faculty, support staff, administration, and PTO, over 53 families received holiday help in the form of presents and food boxes.
To help brighten the holidays for families in need, the Bear Creek School recently held its annual Holiday Giving Tree program. As part of this annual tradition, the school’s faculty, staff and students as well as community members purchased suggested gifts for families who could use the help this season of giving.
Elizabethtown Area High School’s Brain Busters team recently competed against Lower Dauphin High School in the first round of the WGAL-Wellspan Brain Busters competition. Tune in to WGAL on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 12:30 p.m. to find out whether the team from Elizabethtown was victorious.
Elizabethtown Area High School students in the artistic crafts and fibers class made t-shirts based on classic children’s book and presented the t-shirts to students from East High Street Elementary School.
At its Dec. 12 action meeting, the Elizabethtown Area School District board of education unanimously approved the hiring of its former high school principal Dan Serfass as the assistant to the superintendent for learning.
Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Hannah Ruby and Austin Denlinger were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for December. Ruby and Denlinger were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school, and community service activities.
Ring in the season by joining the Elizabethtown Area School District’s Music Department for four evenings of festive holiday music. At each concert, the district’s talented student-musicians will perform a variety of seasonal favorites beloved by all.
Elizabethtown Area High School principal Dr.Nate Frank, as well as assistant principal Michael Pericci, have announced the honor roll for the first marking period of the 2017-2018 school year. A total of 260 students made the honor roll this marking period, which equates to roughly 42% of the student body in grades 7-8 having a GPA at or above 92%.
The faculty and administration of Elizabethtown Area High School recently took part in the national “Giving Tuesday” initiative, which is in response to the commercialism and consumerism of this time of year. Giving Tuesday is dedicated to giving back to your community.
Fourteen local families from the greater-Elizabethtown area will enjoy Thanksgiving Food Baskets, compliments of Elizabethtown Area Middle School. The baskets contained all the ingredients for a Thanksgiving dinner including a frozen turkey, vegetables, bread, yams, stuffing, gravy, and more.
