Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Emily Swope and Dylon Orth were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s Students of Month for March. Swope and Orth were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
Four students from Elizabethtown Area High School were chosen to the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region V Chorus ensemble. Selection to the prestigious group was highly competitive and based on student auditions at the District music festivals held in January.
Elizabethtown Area High School recently inducted 47 students into its T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. It recognizes the outstanding students of Elizabethtown Area High School who have exhibited the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership and service.
Fourteen students from Elizabethtown Area High School perform at the 2015 Lancaster Lebanon Music Educators Association (LLMEA) All County Band Festival. The concert was held at Northern Lebanon High School under the direction of Dr. Huber Toney of Millersville University (wind ensemble) and Dr. N. Keith Wiley of Millersville University (symphonic band).
EAHS orchestra students Aaron Becker, Reuben Zeiset, Erin Marshall, Stacie Savoca and Ethan Schnieder recently joined nearly 100 other talented local student-musicians to form the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7 Orchestra ensemble.
Elizabethtown Area School District band student Stacie Savoca (clarinet) recently took part in the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region 5 Band Festival held at East Stroudsburg High School in February.
Five choral students from Elizabethtown Area High School were selected to the highly competitive Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 chorus. A team of judges comprised of local music teachers chose the talented vocal students from area high schools to be a part of the ensemble.
A team of students from Elizabethtown Area High School recently won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Quiz Bowl Championship. The Bears, seeded fourth in the tournament, defeated second-seeded Lancaster Mennonite High School by a score of 365-220.
As part of their core communication class, 125 sophomores from Elizabethtown Area High School recently took part in the school’s annual Mock Interview Day. With more than 33 local business and community leaders sitting on the other side of the table, the students had a chance to sharpen their interview and job-readiness skills.
A team of students from Elizabethtown Area High School recently took third place in the first annual regional Governor’s JOBS1st PA STEM Competition. The bronze-medal winning team was comprised of seniors Joanna Redcay, Joey Betz, Corby Rider, Muzzy Islam and Sam McMinn
Bill McDonald was approved by the Elizabethtown Area School District’s board of school directors to be the Bears new varsity football coach replacing Mike Cottle who resigned at the end of this past season.
