Congratulations to Elizabethtown Area High School’s Class of 2017. Amidst much fanfare, the 289 graduating seniors, clad in the traditional blue robes, walked across the stage to receive their diplomas during this year’s commencement program held on June 7.
Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Molly Hill and Dean McBride were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for June. Hill and McBride were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
Elizabethtown Area High School held its annual senior awards banquet for the Class of 2017 on Wednesday, May 24 at Elizabethtown Area High School. At the ceremony, 77 members of the senior class were honored with 70 scholarships and awards.
On Friday, May 26, the students, faculty, administration, and staff of Elizabethtown Area High School left their classrooms and put their books and computers aside to perform a multitude of community service activities in their school and in the community.
Five students from Elizabethtown Area High School will be participating in NASA’s Cubes in Space 2017 program. Cubes in Space is a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) competition that encourages students ages 11-18 to submit experiments for launch into space.
Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Kyra Buettner and Conor Larison were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for May. Buettner and Larison were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
Six students from Elizabethtown Area High School recently took part in the prestigious regional PA High School Computer Fair. Hosted by the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13, the regional competition allowed students to showcase their talents in six different categories: Animation, Computer Fair Logo, Digital Movies, Graphic Design, Programming, and Web Page Design.
Elizabethtown Area High School sophomore Nathaniel McCloud won an award at the national MIT INSPIRE Research Competition in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. McCloud competed in the political science category where he earned an honorable mention award.
Elizabethtown Area High School juniors and seniors heard a firsthand account of the tragic consequences that can come with districted driving. In a school-wide assembly for the two grade levels, Karen Brezitski shared her deeply emotional story about the day her eight-year old son Owen was struck and killed by a distracted teen driver in March 2011.
Elizabethtown Area High School recently represented Pennsylvania in the national We the People finals in our nation’s capital. The team qualified based on winning the state championship for an amazing seventh year in a row.
Elizabethtown Area High School’s Brain Busters team recently competed against Lancaster Mennonite High School in the third round of the WGAL-Welspan Brain Busters competition. Tune in to WGAL on Saturday, May 13 at 12:30 p.m. to find out whether the team from Elizabethtown was victorious.
