Performing to the delight and amazement of students from Rheems Elementary School and Mill Road Elementary School, the Dialed Action Sports Team thrilled the students by flying through the air in a gravity-defying, acrobatic BMX stunt show. The assembly featured nearly 45 minutes of tricks intertwined with a positive message of anti-bullying and bike safety.
Administrators from the Elizabethtown Area School District became students for the day as they learned new ways to integrate leadership instruction into the classroom setting and how it could benefit student achievement and school culture. What made this professional learning opportunity unique was who the trainers were…a first grade teacher and one of her students.
Rheems Elementary School held its annual Jump Rope For Heart campaign to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). With music pumping and kids jumping, the school raised $9,536.51 for the fight against heart disease and strokes.
To celebrate 100 days of school, first graders from Amy Scherer’s classroom at Rheems Elementary School recently helped the SPCA of Lancaster County care for the homeless animals living at its shelter. The students collected everything from pet food, treats and collars to towels, blankets, leashes and kitty litter.
During the month of November, the students, faculty, staff and PTO from Rheems Elementary School held their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Students were encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items for the holiday including gravy, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce and pudding.
