  • Our Free Library Opens at Elizabethtown Schools

    This spring, Elizabethtown Area Schools launched its Our Free Library program throughout the school district. Modeled after the national Little Free Libraries initiative, the Our Free Library program is a community book exchange utilizes the “take-a-book, leave-a-book” concept popular in coffee shops and public spaces.

  • Local students win prizes in American Legion Essay Contest

    Thee students from the Bear Creek School received awards in the annual American Legion Auxiliary essay contest. The contest promoted patriotism by offering students a chance to share their ideas in writing. This year’s contest - What Does Freedom Mean to My Family - was open to students in grades 3-12.

  • Ancient Historical Figures to Come to Life in Living History Museum

    Bear Creek School sixth graders have been learning about ancient world history including the Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Persian empires. On Thursday, May 26, they brought their learning to life as part of the school’s Living History Museum.

  • EASD’s Taurus Racing places first at national finals in F1 in Schools program

    Taurus Racing from the Elizabethtown Area School District placed first at the F1 in Schools USA National Finals held at the Michigan International Speedway. Taurus Racing is made up of twelfth grader Makayla Schaar, tenth graders Hailey Schaar and Gage Schatz, ninth graders Luke Snyder and Logan Vogelsong, and eighth grader Michael Perrin.

  • EASD teacher to be honored as WGAL Teacher Impact Award winner

    Elizabethtown Area School District physical education teacher Barbara Shenk has been named a 2016 Teacher Impact Award Winner. Shenk will join the seven other award-winning educators from across the Susquehanna Valley at a banquet to be held in their honor on May 23.

  • Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation receives check from Masonic Village at Elizabethtown

    The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown recently presented a check for $15,000 to the Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation to benefit the foundation’s educational classroom grant program. Over the past eighth years, the Masonic Village has gifted the foundation $120,000 for its grant program.

  • Bear Creek School 6th Graders To Participate In NASA's 'Cubes In Space'

    Eighteen sixth graders from the Bear Creek School will be participating in NASA’s Cubes in Space 2016 program. Cubes in Space is a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) competition that encourages students ages 11-18 to submit experiments for launch into space.

  • EASD teaming up with the American Cancer Society to fight for a cure

    During the month of May, the students, faculty, and staff of the Elizabethtown Area School District will join forces with the American Cancer Society by hosting a series of mini Relay for Life events.

  • Bear Creek School performs Shakespeare classic Henry V

    Under the direction of sixth grade teacher Erick Witteman, thirty-seven sixth graders from the Bear Creek School recently took to the stage to bring the Shakespearean classic Henry V to life for their parents, teachers and classmates.

  • EASD students win state-level Destination Imagination Tournament

    Four teams of students from Elizabethtown Area School District placed first in Pennsylvania Destination ImaginNation tournament and are now eligible to compete at the global finals to be held in Knoxville, TN later this spring.
