Bear Creek School sixth graders have been learning about ancient world history including the Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Persian empires. On Thursday, May 21, they brought their learning to life as part of the school’s Living History Museum.
Elizabethtown Area School District fifth grade teacher Alicia Sterner was recently recognized as a 2015 Teacher Impact Award Winner. Sterner joined the four other award-winning educators from across the Susquehanna Valley at a banquet held in their honor on May 11.
Nine sixth graders from the Elizabethtown Area School District recently took part in the PMEA District 7 Youth String Fest held at Manheim Central Middle School. Participants included violinists Gabriela Hohenwarter, Hannah Kline, Eryn Moore, Kiaralie Santiago-Ortiz and Abria Winter; violists Emma Foley and Micheale Kanode; and cellists Jagger Gilleland and Emily Laird.
Elizabethtown Area School District held a staff recognition banquet to salute employees for exceptional achievement and dedication to students and the district. In total, eight faculty members and six support staff members were honored for their outstanding service.
Young ladies from the Bear Creek School and Elizabethtown Area Middle School are gearing up for the Girls on the Run (GOTR) Spring 5K to be held in mid-May. With just a couple more weeks to train until race time, the participants, joined by their family members, took to the trails and walking paths around the Bear Creek School and Elizabethtown Fairgrounds to participate in a practice 5K.
A team of students from the Bear Creek School recently took part in the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 Real World STEM Solution Challenge. Sixth graders Josh Kreider, Aidan Mollohan and Seth Oltmans collaborated to develop a pneumatic motor as part of their “EcoAir Motors” team.
The Elizabethtown Area School District is pleased to announce its 2015 Spring Concert Series dates. The public is invited free of charge. The concert series is a way for the district’s talented student-musicians to showcase their musical talents in front of family, friends and the community at large.
Four students from Bear Creek School recently took part in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7 Elementary Songfest. The students were sixth graders Cameron Geyer, Makenna Heisey, Gabriela Hohenwarter, and Westin Kolaric. The students were accompanied by Bear Creek choral director Melissa Miller.
Fourth graders in the Elizabethtown Area School District recently got a hands-on lesson in the contributions agricultural and environmental sciences have on the local community at the district’s eighth annual Agricultural and Environmental Science Day.
