A nine-member elected school board, all of whose members live within the school district boundaries, governs the Elizabethtown Area School District. The school board's primary role is to formulate and evaluate all policies needed for the operation of the school district. Directors design and set policies within the framework of the {Board} Pennsylvania School Code. District staff are charged with administering the policies in accordance with the guidelines established within. All policies must comply with state regulations and statutes. Pennsylvania school law guides the board in its responsibilities, which are as follows:
Board meetings are typically held on the second and third Tuesday of every month in the high school's large group instruction room located at 600 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise advertised) and are open to the public. Meeting agendas and minutes can be accessed online by clicking here. The first meeting of the month is usually conducted as a workshop session with the second meeting of the month being an action meeting.
